Kapow Comic Con 2011 Quick Recap
Monday night and my second Comic Convention since moving to the UK is in the bag. Kapow Comic Con 2011 is now a mere memory but it was a lot of fun. I totally dug it and didn't realize how much I missed being at Conventions, talking to people who love comics, and generally geeking out.
Some of the highlights were the T-Shirts that I started to document on the second day. This was sparked by a guy I saw in line on the first day as we waited to get in. He was 6'-5", probably about 350 lbs and I spied him as he finished a breakfast of three chocolate croissants and a can of Dr. Pepper. His shirt was white text and plan black T: "I beat anorexia." Give the man points for calling a spade a spade!
I can't decide what my favourite was this weekend: do we go with the culture clash of Doc Brown's Flux Capacitor Delorean crashing into Dr. Who's phone box? Or the Fluorescent Tube Light Saber? Hmm...
There was a whole slew I didn't get a chance to shoot (Darth Vader trimming a Bonzai tree...), so hopefully at Bristol International and Small Press Expo, the shirts will be equally impressive.
Finally, here's an image of a lovely wife holding down the Dork Fort so her hubby can wander the floor a little bit and taste the wares.
I'll post more in the next few days about what the show was like from a professional perspective. But all in, I'm very glad to be getting back out on the Convention Circuit.
